Gary Warzala is currently the Chief Information Security Officer at Fifth Third Bank. Prior to joining Fifth Third Bank, Warzala was the Chief Information Security Officer at PNC Bank where he made significant technology transformation that involved an enterprise portfolio of applications, infrastructure, and security platforms among others. Warzala was also associated with the Verizon Research, Investigations, Solutions, Knowledge (RISK) Team as their CISO Advisor supporting the Target Corporation breach response. He was the Chief Information Security Officer at Visa where he had organizational accountability to develop programs designed to protect over 2 billion unique personal account information records and over $6 trillion in annual global payment card transactions. Before Visa, Warzala was the CISO at the Aon Corporation in Chicago, and GE Aviation in Cincinnati, OH. He began his career at GE, where he held senior management positions in telecommunications, architecture, application development, and information security.
He is a member of the security advisory board for AXELOS Global Best Practice, SDG, the Security Advisor Alliance, and the Big Data/Cyber Security Industry Advisory Council. He established a partnership between San Jose State University and the Council on Cyber Security to bring the US Cyber Challenge to Silicon Valley in 2012, and 2013. He was the Cyber Workforce Development Chair for the Bay Area Council and participates in numerous speaking engagements annually, including RSA, Evanta CISO Executive Summit, FS-ISAC, and ISSA.
Warzala received his MBA from Xavier University and BS degree from Utica College of Syracuse University.
