SDG is involved with a fortune 10 company to create user-specific, enterprise-wide data authorization control architecture using a centralized access control mechanism. This would be used by all applications and systems to provide enterprise wide access control.

This provides our client with the following benefits:

• Unification of security architecture for applications developed in different environments.
• Centralized access control within an internal security model.
• Automated grants and privileges to users based on department rather than individually for access to each application as well as for the data content that they may access.
• Easy administration based on user profile characteristics.
• Definition of roles to indicate what access rights are assigned or available to each user within the context of an application as well as the associated data sources that feed it.

The solution imposes a set of development standards on application with regard to implementation of security. Further, it provides a security interface to applications for authorization based on user roles and the existing business rules/policies. This imposes a uniform security layer for the majority of applications, reducing development time and automating a large percentage of administrative tasks
