DASHBOARDS
For a fortune 5 company SDG was involved in the architecture, design and implementation of a web-based Performance Metrics Reporting system
(Dashboard) that would be used to summarize the performance of critical items at a high level in the form of dials representing different metrics. Issues that engage our client’s customers by initiating mutual
dialogue and co-operation activities and methods are initiated and addressed through a presentation of current performance measurements and future goals on the Dashboard. The representation of data was in multiple
layers to facilitate easy review as well as predictive analysis.
These Dashboards are used at various levels, from upper management to the shop floor, to quantify performance and characterize the
relationship of our client with their customers. Dials are populated by data feeds that come directly from the customers, to depict the given metrics accurately.
The solution used Oracle as the backend data warehouse with Cognos as the reporting tool. An Oracle application server based java
application set was used to perform the data mappings and statistical analyses.
The Dashboard system would benefit our client in the following ways:
- Creating a data repository from the customer data feeds.
- Designing statistical metrics that effectively and accurately summarize quantitative data as well as represent qualitative information such as
customer service and satisfaction levels.
- Using a reporting tool to automate the periodic creation of new custom-defined Dashboards for their customers.
- Eliminating a large portion of manual effort in preparation of Dashboards.
- Meeting the reporting needs of an expanded set of customers.
- Delivering the Dashboard to an expanded audience within the customer organization.
- Using better and more powerful statistical definitions to make predictive analyses with the data
